Stride Forward is a charity offering mentoring for individuals with life hanging injuries. Annabel is a Trustee and a Mentor, Jim is a Mentor. Much of our work is providing adventure rehab for the charity, and building tremendous relationships and having a great laugh along the way.
Holly King, inspired by her work with life-changing injuries in the Royal Army Medical Corps, recognised the profound physical and mental challenges they posed. Upon starting her private practice in Devon, she saw a significant gap in rehabilitation services and felt compelled to provide more than just physical support.
She observed the incredible impact of informal mentoring on her young patients, leading them to pursue education, successful careers, sporting opportunities, and even entrepreneurship. Holly understood that such mentoring thrived when opportunities were available.
Stride Forward is the result of years of experience and development, aiming to transform lives through mentoring and support.
At Stride Forward, we recognise the profound impact that life-changing injuries can have on individuals’ lives, extending far beyond the physical. These injuries often change one’s sense of self, identity, and ability to lead a fulfilling life. Our mission is rooted in addressing the substantial gap in support for individuals navigating the long and often solitary journey of adjustment and acceptance post-injury.
Stride Forward provides transformative mentorship programmes that positively impact the lives of individuals dealing with life-changing injuries (specifically limb loss, catastrophic orthopaedic and soft tissue injuries including burns), enabling individuals to find purposeful occupation (employment, voluntary services to hobbies or sport) that enables them to have an enriched and intentional life irrespective of their physical impairments.
